Thomas Kute

Thomas Kute, 76, died Monday, August 9, 2010, at an Abilene medical center. The son of Anna (Yergo) and Kyran Francis Kute, Thomas was born on August 2, 1934 in Lykens, Pennsylvania, where he attended Lykens High School. In 1954 while in the U. S. Air Force, he was transferred to Dyess Air Force Base (then Abilene Air Force Base). Thomas and Norma Nadine Pierce were married on April 14, 1956 in Abilene, being the first couple married in the Dyess Chapel. Thomas was a postman with the U. S. Post Office over 30 years. He was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church in Abilene and the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was a longtime Little League Coach and loved hunting and fishing. His parents, one brother and one sister preceded Thomas in death. Thomas is survived by his wife, Nadine Pierce Kute of Abilene, and three sons, Tommy Kute and wife, Laura, and Tim Kute all of Abilene and Terry Kute and wife, Nancy, of Charlotte, North Carolina. Survivors also include four sisters, Anna Travitz, Marie Swalm, Francis Spicker and Rita Osman; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Emily and Scott Liles, B.J. Kute, Anna Kute, Beth and Kevin Denman, Timmy and Angela Kute, Josh and Jennifer Kute, Brandon Kute, Cameron Carswell and Mitchell Kute; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 13, at Southwest Park Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
