Theresa Bechtel, 94, passed away Monday, March 06, 2006 at a local nursing center. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at 10:00 am at Southwest Park Baptist Church, 2901 South 20th, with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating, assisted by Rev. Travis Crutchfield. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, March 9 in Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Theresa was born on July 27, 1911 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Josef and Teresa Jank. She was a retail sales clerk for Gibson's and also worked in a day care center caring for children. Mrs. Bechtel has been a resident of Abilene since 1965. She was member of the Queen Ester Chapter-Order of the Eastern Star. Theresa attended Southwest Park Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bechtel was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Edward Bechtel in 1960; one step-son Russell E. Bechtel; three sisters and one brother. She is survived by her son, Patrick Bechtel and his wife Margaret of Abilene; two granddaughters, Kathy Burnitt and her husband Richard of Abilene, Laura Jackson and her husband John of Granbury, Texas; one grandson, Chris Bechtel and his wife Lee Ann of Abilene; three great grandchildren, Cyndi Jackson, Zac and Derek Pittman; several nieces and one nephew.
Shane Williams, Jim Williams, Philip Marshall, Randy, Dennis, and Russ Reddell will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to express their gratitude and extend a special thanks to the Chisholm House and The Oaks at Radford Hills Nursing Center.
