Thelma Irene Wood Gamblin, 90, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in Abilene, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm on January 10, 2011 at Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas with her son-in-law, David Whitmire officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
Mrs. Gamblin was born in Ralls, Texas to Leonard Ray and Helen Julia (Tillman) Wood on October 3, 1920. The family moved to Lubbock where she graduated from Lubbock High School. On April 12, 1941 she married Billy Ray Gamblin in Lubbock. They moved to Abilene in 1947.
Mrs. Gamblin was a member of First Christian Church in Abilene for over sixty years. She was a member of the Abilene Woman's Club.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bill, who died August 25, 1995 after 54 years of marriage; her parents and one brother.
Mrs. Gamblin is survived by three children, Helen Whitmire and husband David of Abilene, Dr. Kenneth Gamblin and wife Kathleen of Colorado Springs, and Brenda Bredemeyer and husband Ron of Abilene. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Kevin Bredemeyer and wife Allison of Abilene, Kim Bouldin and husband Brian of Weatherford, Stephen Whitmire and wife Naomi of Marshall, Keri Bradley and husband John of Hallsville, Sarah Puckett and husband James of Cypress, Nathan Whitmire and wife Catherine of Arlington, Kirby Joseph and husband Jeff of Denver; Kristy Mossanen and husband Sassan of Talkeetna, Alaska ; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
