Thelma Joyce Hubbard, 68, of Abilene died Friday, February 15, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 18, 2013 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Burial will follow in the Potosi Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
Thelma was born in Coleman, Texas on May 26, 1944 to Brenston and Martha (Downey) Staggs. Abilene has been her home since 1954. She worked as a Home Healthcare Provider for Chartwell Homehealth before retiring. Thelma was a member of the New Beginnings United Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clarence Staggs and Brenston H. Staggs, Jr. Thelma is survived by two sons, David Poer and wife Sharla of Amarillo, Raymond Poer and wife Hilda of Charlotte, North Carolina; three daughters, Marsha Caragianis of Abilene, Nancy Hester and husband Jerry of Cameron, North Carolina; Mary Ann Garcia of Sweetwater; three brothers, Gerald Staggs and wife Wanda of Abilene, Raymond Staggs and wife Shirley of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jackie Staggs of Abilene; one sister, Frances Paige and husband Shawn of Abilene; 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
