Thelma Clemmer Brady Hall, 95, died Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Clyde Nursing Center.
The daughter of Bessie Pearl (Moore) and Henry Ellis Clemmer, she was born on November 1, 1915 in Hamby, Texas. She attended school at Rock Hill and graduated from Cisco High School.
In 1928 at the age of twelve, she was baptized in Dead Man Creek. Thelma was a life long member of Hamby Baptist Church and in more recent years enjoyed being a part of the "Keen Agers" at the church.
Thelma and her first husband, Ernest S. Brady, lived in the Hamby Community and for a time in Merkel. Mr. Brady preceded her in death in 1968. Mr. Brady was a farmer, and Thelma was also a product of the land. She loved watching the crops grow, and tending her garden and flowers around her home.
In 1977, she married J. D. Hall. Mr. Hall also preceded her in death, in 1995. They were residents of Hamby.
Throughout her life, Thelma loved to crochet and work outdoors. She was a talented artist and a great cook. She especially loved tending to her irises at her house in Hamby, and she loved to play dominoes.
In addition to her husbands, Thelma was preceded in death by infant twin daughters; her parents, three sisters and two brothers.
Thelma is survived by her son, Ed Brady and wife Mary Ann of Hamby; daughter, Barbara Sutton and husband Ronnie of Granbury; and stepson, Cliff "Pete" Hall of Downey, California. Survivors also include four grandchildren and spouses, Zach Brady and Dani, Amber Brady, Seth Sutton and Meredith, and Gabe Sutton and Lizzie; and eight great-grandchildren, James, Emma, Isaac, Noah, Asa, Jonah, Caleb and Eli, as well as numerous nieces and nephews including Betty Brady of Hamby, Texas. In recent years, Betty was Thelma's "Sunday driver", taking her to church, lunch, and other destinations. Betty has been a huge help to Thelma and Eddie and Barbara for years in ways too numerous to mention.
Thelma's life will be remembered and celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, with grandchildren officiating. Burial will follow in Hamby Cemetery.
