Terry Bratton, Ph.D., 67, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at an Abilene nursing center.
Born in Amarillo, Texas on October 4, 1943, Terry was the son of Margie Augusta (Coffey) and Orville W. Bratton. He was a 1961 graduate of Amarillo High School and received his bachelor degree from Baylor University in 1965. Terry completed his master's degree at Southwestern Seminary in 1984, and earned his doctorate from the University of North Texas in 1997. He was a professor at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene.
Terry married Carol Ann Marshall on September 2, 1963 in Amarillo, Texas. He was a member of College View Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Henry Bratton; granddaughter, Sarah Grace Freeman; and grandparents, William Vernie Bratton, Bertha Lee Bost, Dock Henry Coffey, and Una May Hudson.
Terry is survived by his wife, Carol Bratton of Abilene; three sons, Terry L. Bratton, II of Irving, Kenneth Earl Bratton of Stephenville, and John Lowell Bratton of Fort Worth; daughter, Jennifer Rebecca Freeman of Graham; sister-in-law, Ginger Jones of Amarillo; and seven grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 28th in Logsdon Chapel at Hardin-Simmons University with Rev. Werth Mayes officiating, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. A visitation will be held at Cox Funeral Home in Amarillo from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, October 29th. Interment will be Saturday, October 30th at 10:00 am in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo Texas. Rev. Winifred Moore will officiate at the graveside service.
