Terri Hartmann, 61, of Abilene, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Hendrick Hospital. Funeral services, with Rev. Bill Libby and Rev. Greg Kennedy officiating, will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2008 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Terri's wishes were to be cremated.
Terri was born in Abilene on September 26, 1947 to Jack and Jimmie (Morris) Guy. She graduated from Cooper High School and attended McMurry College. June 1, 1968, Terri married Richard Edwin Hartmann in Abilene. She was Vice President and Secretary Treasurer of Hartmann Brothers, Inc. Terri was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
The love of Terri's life was her family and friends. She was involved in all aspects of her grandchildren's lives. She was always the "rock of her family" keeping all family activities planned and organized. Terri believed in living life to the fullest and that whatever happened was God's plan and all things would work out for the best. She loved to travel - especially to Jamaica and Las Vegas, and her favorite weekend retreat – their second home at Possum Kingdom Lake. Terri and Richard met so many special people on their travels across the country and remained friends, keeping in touch with many of them throughout the years.
Terri was a long time member and past president of Los Aficionados, and participated in many other charitable activities in the community.
Terri's parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Richard Hartmann, of Abilene; one son, Brad Hartmann and his wife Gina, one granddaughter, Allie Janice Hartmann, one grandson, Weston Jay Hartmann, and one step-grandson, Jyrred Scott Manners, all of Abilene. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Patricia Hartmann and one brother-in-law, Ronnie Hartmann and his wife Diana, also all of Abilene; as well as one niece, Kari Ann Hartmann, of Houston; two nephews, Alan Hartmann and his wife Tracie, and Kelly Gwinn, also of Abilene; and almost family, Galen & Debbie Weir of Levelland, and numerous other friends and relatives.
The pallbearers will be Mike and David Woodyard, Tommy and Larry Guy, Jyrred Manners and Jayden Packwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael and Ethan Hartmann.
