Tempye Beth Carey

Tempye Beth Marshall Carey was born July 19, 1952.  She went to meet her Lord and Savior on November 13, 2022.  She was the middle child of Lonnie Paul & Laura Belle Marshall who lived in Neosho, Missouri where her father operated a dairy farm.  The family moved to Cisco, TX when she was 4 years old.

She graduated from Cisco High School in 1971 and Cisco Jr. College in 1973.  While at CJC she met Thad Carey at a Baptist Student Union meeting.  They were married on June 29, 1973, and they lived in Blanket, TX until Thad was accepted into the Abilene Police department academy in October 1973.

Tempye worked at Timex and HSU, and in 1978 she was hired by Wylie Baptist Church where she served for 40 years as church secretary until June 2018.  She was honored with a wonderful retirement celebration at that time.

While at Wylie Baptist she served as a children's Sunday school teacher, teaching 2nd through 4th graders for many years with her wonderful friend, Pat Baxter.  She loved being involved in ladies’ bible study, singing in the worship choir, and singing in the Living Christmas Tree.

Tempye is survived by her husband of 49 years, Thad Carey, her brother Larry Marshall of Fate, TX, and her sister Kathy Harris of Cisco, TX.  She was preceded in death by her parents.  Tempye and Thad had no children.

During their 49 years of marriage, she and Thad enjoyed traveling all across the U.S. by motorcycle, 4-wheel drive activities, and RV'ing.

A memorial service will be held at Wylie Baptist Church on November 21, 2022 at 1:00PM.  Memorials may be made to Wylie Baptist Church building fund or the church's children's department.
