Ted Mere, 60, of Abilene, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 12, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Monsignor Frederick Nawarskas officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm, followed by a Rosary and a Celebration of Life from 3:00 to 4:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Ted was born September 27, 1956 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He graduated from Barbe High School and attended McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana and graduated from Abilene Christian University. Ted married Theresa Bindel on April 29th, 1978. He worked as a Parole Officer for Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Ted, a devoted family man, was a hardworking hero to his four children and instilled values of love and selflessness.
Ted is survived by his beautiful wife, Theresa Mere; his parents, Robert and Anne Hervey; three sons, Chris Mere and wife Kristi of Cedar Park, Daniel Mere and wife Maegan of Abilene, Andy Mere and Heather Diggs of Austin; one daughter, Laurie Murphy and husband Tim of Leicester, MA; one sister, Sharon Anderson and husband Bobby of Tulsa, OK; and six precious grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Mere, Daniel Mere, Andy Mere, Tim Murphy, Steve Brown and Ron Austin. His grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers: Ashlee Mere, Owen Murphy, Ben Murphy, Bryce Mere, Kelsey Mere and Zephyr Mere.
