Ted Medford

Ted R. Medford, of Abilene, passed away Wednesday, May 28, at the age of 81. A memorial service will be held today, Saturday, May 31, at 10:30 am in the chapel at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. November 18, 1926, Ted was born in Carbon, Texas to P.L. "Lon" Medford and Thelma (Hudnall) Medford. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1946. Ted served his country in the United States Army Infantry during World War II. He worked as an Open Pit Mine Manager for Phelps Dodge, now Freeport McMoran, for 43 years. In September of 2000, Ted moved to Abilene from San Angelo, Texas. He married Waida Fields on June 16, 2001 in Abilene. Ted was a Methodist. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, P.L. "Lon" Medford and Thelma Medford; his first wife, Eileen Worsdale Medford; and one sister, Geraldine Medford. He is survived by his wife, Waida Medford, of Abilene; two sons, Theodore M. Medford and his wife Vicki, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, S.P. Medford and his wife Beverly, of Silver City, New Mexico; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
