Ted Beauchamp, 78, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2023, surrounded by his family at his home in Abilene.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 8 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 9 at Wylie Methodist Church. Committal service will follow at 1:00 pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
Ted William Beauchamp was born May 16, 1945 in Pecos, TX to Ora Harrison and Mary Elizabeth Beauchamp. He graduated from Pecos High School in 1963, and attended North Texas State University. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967, and served as a Radarman in Vietnam, first on a guided missile destroyer and then on river patrol boats. He was honorably discharged in 1971. In 1974, he married Jean Abbey in Dallas, Texas. He worked as a banker in Dallas and Houston, and in 1977 opened an office supply store in Breckenridge, Texas. Later, he sold the business, moving to Marshall, TX in 2012, and then to Abilene in 2021. Ted was an avid fisherman and member of the Breckenridge Bass Club for many years. Ted was also a motorcycle enthusiast, and in 2007 he rode his bike to the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. Also in 2007, Ted joined the Patriot Guard Riders and served as a Ride Captain. Later in life he took up golf. He was an active member of Wylie Methodist Church in Abilene.
Ted is survived by his wife, Jean; a brother, Tommy Beauchamp and wife Jo Ann of San Angelo; a sister, Teri Lerma and husband Richard of San Angelo; a son, Scott Beauchamp and wife Amanda of Abilene; two grandchildren, Cheyanna and Brandt Beauchamp of Abilene; two step grandsons, Jackson and Raymond Sherley of Abilene, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wylie Methodist Church or to the Patriot Guard Riders.
