Susan Ann Foster Hunt, 64, of Abilene, Texas, went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, March 24, 2017 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She passed away in her home in Abilene, Texas.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March, 28, 2017 at the Southwest Park Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 2901 South 20th St. in Abilene, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Southwest Park Baptist Church, with Brother Mike Woodard, Senior Pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Memorial Park, Abilene, Texas, at 9:30 a.m. on March 29, 2017. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Susan was born on October 5, 1952 on her brother’s third birthday in Hamlin, Texas to Reverend Frank Foster, and Betty Hudspeth Foster. They lived at the time in Aspermont, Texas where her father, Frank, was the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Aspermont. Upon Frank’s death in 1962, Betty moved her family to Abilene to be close to relatives.
Susan was a 1971 graduate of Abilene Cooper High School, having also attended Bowie Elementary and Madison Junior High. She attended McMurry College for one year, and then began working. Her employment experiences included Abilene Savings, West Texas Utilities Company, and Roeder and Forman, CPAs. Susan also worked as a secretary for AISD for 18 years at various locations and campuses, with her last position being at Madison Middle School.
Susan married Mark Hunt on April 19, 1986 in Abilene, Texas, and he helped raise her two children. She was a long-time member of Southwest Park Baptist Church, and developed many life-long friendships at the church. Susan sang in the choir and taught Sunday School, culminating with her teaching children in the children’s department. She loved being a wife and a mother and received a special blessing as a grandmother called “Nana”.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, Frank Foster, her mother, Betty Foster, and her brother Philip Foster.
Susan is survived by her husband, Mark, of Abilene, Texas; her son, Brian (Amy) Stephens, of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; her daughter, Stephanie (Eric) Phelps, of Tuscola, Texas; her sister, Kay Frost, of Abilene, Texas; her grandchildren, Maggie Stephens and Ben Stephens, of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, Harrison Phelps and Haylee Phelps, of Tuscola, Texas; a nephew, several nieces, and many cousins.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Jose Vega, and Dr. Victor Hirsch, and the staff at Hendrick Medical Center, and Dr. Robert Collins of U.T. Southwestern Medical Center and Staff in Dallas, Texas for their loving care of Susan. The family also wishes to thank their church family at Southwest Park Baptist Church who helped to raise their family and reflected Christ’s love every day with their unending compassion and support.
