Susan was born in Houston, Texas in 1950 to Dr. Jack and Molyan Haynes. She graduated from Cooper High School in 1968 and attended Texas Tech University graduating with a degree as a registered dietician. Susan completed an internship at Baylor Medical Hospital in Dallas, Texas specializing as a Therapeutic Dietician related to the healing of diseases.  Susan worked as a Therapeutic Dietician at Hendrick Hospital and as a dietary consultant for Advanced Health Care Solutions for over 35 years.

Susan was member of Delta Gamma Sorority while attending Texas Tech and was active as Delta Gamma alumnae.  She was a member of the Junior League of Abilene and continued her leadership role as a Sustaining Advisor for many years.

Susan was preceded in death by her loving father, Jack Haynes and her niece, Krystal Haynes.  Susan is survived by her daughter Stephanie Grace and son-in-law, Brad Grace; her brothers Jack (Donna) and Russell (Lois) Haynes; her sisters Cherie (John) Speer and Shelley (Paul) Hiett, her mother, Molyan Haynes; grandsons Jack and Luke Grace; nieces Molyan (Paul) Dery and Jacqueline (Ryan) Stephenson; and nephews Wade Haynes, Jason (Yvonne) Hiett, Russell (Cami) Hiett, Dylan (Rachel) Speer, Preston Haynes; numerous great nieces and nephews.

Susan was such a loving, proud, and dedicated mother to Stephanie and Brad.  Her grandchildren, Jack and Luke were the love of her life.  She supported all her siblings and nieces and nephews, attending most of their graduations from high school, college, and medical school. They loved her as much as she loved them.  She will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Susan’s favorite colors were turquoise and blue.  The family requests that you wear an article of clothing or an accessory that is turquoise or blue to honor Susan’s life.
