Susan L. Chapman

Susan Loraine Chapman joined her Heavenly Father on March 28, 2022, at the age of 73. She was surrounded by her loving family as her brave, but brief battle with breast cancer ended. 

Susan was born in Birmingham, Alabama on December 17, 1948, to Nathan S. & Billie L. Senn. She graduated from San Angelo Central in 1967. On December 11, 1983, Susan married Larry J. Chapman and together they raised three wonderful daughters: Nicole, Kristi, and Chandra.

Susan worked at WTU Appliance Sales for over 20 years. She later worked at Chapman Insurance until opening Junk Warehouse Boutique in 2005. Susan loved gardening and was an enthusiastic interior designer. She enjoyed upcycling furniture, collecting antiques, and was a voracious reader.  Susan loved to give back to her community and was passionate about supporting area outreach programs.

Susan is survived by her husband, Larry; their three daughters, Nicole Ludlow & husband Steve of Elkhart, Indiana, Kristi Henderson & husband Dennis of Abilene, Texas, and Chandra Bruton & husband Chase of San Angelo, Texas. Susan is also survived by her eight grandchildren; Kyle (& Danielle) Ludlow of Elkhart, Indiana, Coley (& Andrea) Ludlow of Bremen, Indiana, Makenzie (& Fernando) Garcia of Denver, Colorado, Maleah Todd of Bloomington, Indiana, Kyle & Kaleb Henderson of Abilene Texas, and Chapman & Colbie Bruton of San Angelo, Texas; her two sisters, Natha (and Robert) Fuller of Ballinger, Texas and Paula Franklin of Brownwood, Texas; sister-in-law Linda Chapman and brother-in-law Lynn Chapman (both from Abilene, Texas); six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, April 6th from 6 pm-8 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Services will be held at the Church of Christ at Remington Ridge on April 7th at 11:30 am followed by burial services at 1:00 pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.
