Susan Anderson, 67, of Abilene passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015 at the Coronado Nursing Center in Abilene, Texas.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, May 29, 2015 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Susan was born in Aberdeen, Maryland to William and Vivian Wykle on November 21, 1947. She went to school in Aberdeen. Susan married Andrew McComack on July 23, 1965. She spent her married life following her husband as an Army wife.
Susan worked many positions at the Hamlin Memorial Hospital starting in 1979. She retired as a lab tech in 2005 after 22 years of service. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars-Post 6014 in Hamlin, Texas.
Susan’s father was one of a set of twin brothers that married a set of twin sisters. This made Susan a double-first cousin to Nancy Mitchel. The two were raised together like sisters rather than cousins. Susan had very special place in her heart for Nancy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Eldrige Wykle and Vivian Arthur Wykle; one brother at the age of seven, Terry Lee Wykle; and her aunt and uncle, Edgar and Beatrice Wykle.
Susan is survived by her daughter, Melanie Stewart and best friend Dwayne Burnett of Abilene; her son, Cayce Reed and wife Diane of Haskell; one brother, David Wykle and wife Sue of Aberdeen, MD; one sister, Melissa Wykle also of Aberdeen, MD; her special cousin, Nancy Mitchel and husband Morris, of Claypool, AZ; as well as numerous other cousins. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Justin Stewart and wife Crissy of Tuscola, Stacey Stewart of Abilene, Taylor Martinez and Nicholas Moreno of Tuscola, Denton Reed, of Abilene, Dalinne Reed and Devery Reed of Haskell; and two great-grandchildren, Rowdy Stewart of Tuscola and Chloe Wilson of Haskell. By special request, Susan is also survived by several nieces and nephews that thought of her as a wonderful aunt.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses of Hospice of the Big Country, Caprock Home Health and Coronado Nursing Center for taking such excellent care of their loved one in her time of need.
