Maxine Williams

Maxine Williams, daughter of Ruby & Clifford Tarrant, was born Sue Maxine Tarrant at Eula, Callahan County, Texas, August 19,1932 & passed away peacefully at home in Ridgway, CO with her Granddaughter, Molly Taylor by her side, November 24, 2023.

She attended Eula School, graduating in 1949. She was an excellent basketball player winning thirty-six medals and other honors.

After graduation she worked for the City of Abilene in the accounting-bookkeeping dept. She also worked at Abilene ISD at Central Elementary School before entering College receiving a BS degree from Hardin Simmons University and a Masters Degree from Abilene Christian University. She taught at Dyess Elementary and Taylor Elementary, McMurray University and Abilene Christian University. Maxine attended Zion Lutheran Church on Antilley Rd in Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Deon Williams.

Survivors are sons Edward Williams and wife Jana of Abilene, TX, and Wayne Taylor and wife Joy of Beaumont, TX. Granddaughters Ann Taylor of San Antonio, TX and Molly Taylor of Ridgway, CO and Great Grandson, Brendyn Taylor.

Paul Bearers Larry Davis, David Hamilton, Scott Spinks, Pat Fulgin, Pat Wade and Jarod Hamilton.

Honorary Pallbearers are Doug Sellers and Mark Crouch.

Visitation will be 9:00am to 10:00am at Zion Lutheran Church with funeral services starting at 10:00am Tuesday December 5, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Rd. with burial following at Potosi Cemetery. Arrangements are with The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd.
