Sue Ann Gibson, 49, of Abilene, passed away on Friday March 30, 2012. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm on Monday April 2, 2012 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday April 3, 2012 at her home congregation, Baker Heights Church of Christ
Sue Ann was born in Tulia, TX to Bill and Pat Chance on May 25, 1962. She attended school in Brownfield and graduated from Shamrock. Sue Ann married Russell Gibson on November 27, 1981 in the Church of Christ in Shamrock. She attended West Texas State University before getting married and went on to work in the International Office as an Immigration Specialist at Abilene Christian University for ten years. She was very involved in church at Baker Heights. Sue Ann also spent a lot of time with the grandkids. All of her babies were special to her but a very unique bond was held with Shaelee, the eldest grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Mary Gibson and a special uncle, Don Reed, who also battled cancer.
Sue Ann is survived by her husband, Russell Gibson; two daughters, Brittany Thompson and spouse Randy, and Chelsea Hall and spouse Christopher; siblings, Mike Chance and spouse Carla, Jim Chance and spouse Mary, Pam Morgan and spouse Stan, John Chance and spouse Charlie, Bob Chance and spouse Tricia; her parents, Bill and Pat Chance; grandchildren, Shaelee Gibson, Kenton Grace, Gentry Grace, and Faith Ann Hall; along with many other church family and friends whom she held close to her heart.
Pallbearers will be Mike Chance, Jim Chance, John Chance, Bob Chance, Stan Morgan, and Reuben Chance.
The family of Sue Ann wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Wray, Dr. Trammell, and Dr. Melnyk for being with us through this time and doing all that you could to help. We would also like to give our deepest thanks to Baker Heights for opening your arms and showering us with more love than we could ever imagine throughout this journey.
