Steve Armour

1954 — December 23, 2014

Steven L. Armour, 60, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 28, 2014 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Hargrove officiating. Burial will follow at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene. Born July 10, 1954, in Dallas, Texas, Steve was the son of Henry and Elaine Armour. Steve grew up in Dallas and lived there until moving to Abilene, Texas. After high school, he served in the United States Army for a couple of years. Afterwards he worked as a very talented artist creating elegant sculptures and carvings in wood, glass, granite, etc. He also hand-painted and silk screened many beautiful signs and artwork for billboards, vehicles and other advertisements. In 1989, as a licensed Airframe and Power Plant Technician, Steve moved to Abilene where he worked at Eagle Aviation Services for more than 25 years and was still employed there at the time of his passing. In his spare time he most loved spending time with his daughter, Stephanie. He also enjoyed tinkering on vehicles, Harleys or creating new things in the garage. He loved the outdoors whether hiking, driving or riding down the road on his Harley. He married Kelly Kayser on November 23, 1986 in Garland, Texas at his mother’s home. Together they had one child, Stephanie Armour, who was the apple of his eye. Steve had a great heart, was loving, loyal, dedicated and faithful. He loved God, family and country. He gave his family a strong Christian foundation through teaching and being a living example. He supported organizations that served homeless, orphans and families with incarcerated loved ones, as well as Christian non-profit radio stations that minister to so many people. God is good all the time…All the time God is good. Steve will greatly be missed by his family and friends but especially by his daughter Stephanie. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Elaine, as well as step-father James Moore. Steve is survived by adoring daughter Stephanie and the mother of his child Kelly Anders. Memorials may be given to Love and Care Ministries, 233 Fannin St., Abilene, TX 79603. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to longtime, faithful friends Mark and Wanda Tennis.
