Stephanie Rena Bowles, 42, of Abilene, passed away on Sunday, September 4th.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 14th from 6pm to 8pm, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home located at 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene, TX, 79606. In honor of Steph’s love for Halloween and music, Halloween or rock t-shirts are welcomed at the visitation.
Steph was born in Abilene to Marshelia and David Cunningham on October 16, 1979. She went to school in Abilene, graduating from Cooper High School in 1998. She then attended Texas A&M University where she became a Certified Paralegal. She worked in the legal field for several years before taking a job with a local wind energy company, where she was responsible for procuring land titles for new installations.
Steph married her high school sweetheart, Shaun Paul Bowles, October 14, 2000. They met in middle school at a movie with mutual friends. Much to the chagrin of the other moviegoers, they hit it off immediately, and talked through the entire movie. They remained friends until they began dating in their sophomore year.
She took pride in being at home with her husband and pets. Steph loved animals, especially her beloved pets Hercules, Buddy, and Jack. She also loved Halloween, and music. She frequently donated to the local animal rescues, and always helped animals in need. She looked forward to decorating her house for Halloween each year, and usually had several decorations up year-round. Together, she and her husband enjoyed attending concerts as often as possible. She had an infectious laugh, and a great sense of humor that frequently made her the center of any room. She was kind, caring, and soft-hearted, always putting the needs of others before her own.
Steph was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Sandy Cunningham, and Gene and Irene Burrus.
Steph is survived by her loving husband of almost 23 years, Shaun Bowles, her brother, Jeff Cunningham, mother, Marshelia Decker, father, David Cunningham, and other extended family.
Flowers may be sent to the Hamil Family Funeral Home, and will be donated to local hospice care to be shared with others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Rescue the Animals at http://www.rescuetheanimals.org/donate (click on the Donate in Memorium button).
