Starla Ruth Jordan, 61, of Abilene, TX, passed away at her home on August 15, 2016.
Visitation will be Friday, August 19, from 6 – 7:30 P.M. at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
A celebration of Starla Ruth's life will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 20, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Michael Lewis of Bacon Heights Baptist Church, Lubbock, TX and Chuck Gililland of First Baptist Church, Buffalo Gap, TX will officiate.
Starla Ruth was born in Nocona, TX to Dr. George C. Stewart and Katherine Glover Stewart on July 26, 1955. She attended schools in Paris and Abilene, Texas, graduating from Abilene High School in 1973. She graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a degree in education and taught Special Education in Texas and Kansas. She married J. Earl Jordan on May 26, 1984, in Abilene, TX. Starla Ruth was active in her church until she was no longer able to attend.
Starla Ruth was preceded in death by her father George Claire Stewart and brothers George William and John Claire Stewart.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years J. Earl Jordan, sister Angela Lewis and husband Monty, her mother Katherine Stewart, and brother-in-law Roy Hill, all from Abilene, and a large extended family in Texas, Kansas, and Missouri.

Starla Ruth's family wishes to thank Dr. Samantha Goodman and Dr. Ibrahim Fakhoury and other physicians for their efforts, dedication and concern, Hendrick personnel, as well as the wonderful ladies and gentlemen at Fire Station #4, the EMTs who gave of their time and assistance, and Encompass and Girling Home Health Systems. Thank you to the people from First Baptist Church and other friends who visited the hospital and continued to pray.
