Sondra M. Cromley Roy

Sondra Cromley Roy passed away Thursday, November 1, 2007 at Hendrick Medical Center with loved ones at her side. She was 72 years old. Sandy was born to Margaret Smoller and Phil Brito on February 5, 1935 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She married T. Thomas Cromley in 1953 in Michigan. Tom and Sandy had four children; Linda, Tom, John, and Chris Cromley. In 1971, Sandy married the love of her life, Charles Edward Roy. The new family relocated to Abilene, Texas from Elkhart, Indiana with C.G. Conn Music Company. Sandy worked for the Taylor County Courthouse for 20 years at the time of her retirement. She took pleasure in outings with her grandchildren, gardening, serving the Lord, and making others happy. Sandy did not know a stranger and was loved by many. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She was always thinking of others before herself, and brought so much joy to the people in her life. Sandy lived to glorify the Lord and she was a true testament to his gracious love. She had faith that could move mountains, and a heart that loved beyond measure. We find comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Even in death, Sandy gave life through the donation of her organs. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Charles Roy. Survivors include children; Linda Cromley Sullivan, her two granddaughters, Hayley and Kassidy Sullivan, great-grandson, Hunt Conger, Tom Cromley and wife Leticia, Johnathan Cromley, and Chris Cromley and wife. Roy's children include, Margaret Koestner of South Carolina, Kenneth and Nancy Roy of Michigan, Barbara and Joe Knauf of Michigan, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Taylor-Jones Humane Society, 3811 North 1st Street, Abilene, Texas 79603 or the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation, 1215 Red River, Suite 421, Austin, Texas 78701. Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
