Sondra was born on August 7, 1944 in Mangum, Oklahoma. She graduated from Kennedale High school in Fort Worth, Texas and attended Bartlesville Wesleyan College in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
She enjoyed music - playing the piano, organ, accordion, guitar, and loved to sing, especially with her sisters. She loved to read, embroidery, crochet, quilt and can vegetables from her garden.
"Sonnie" as everyone called her, was a beautiful Christian woman. She was an example of God's love at work in the world - it showed in her kind words, and the thoughtful things she did for others - always there to give you a hug and lend a helping hand. The depth of kindness, patience, and loving guidance she had for anyone who knew her and worked with her will never be duplicated. She was an extraordinary woman with many talents. Her home was always filled with an abundance of laughter, love and plenty of good food. She was dedicated to her church, faithful in worship and never missed giving over and above in her tithes and offerings, as well as philanthropist support to numerous organizations which were dear to her heart and which made a profound difference in many lives.
Her skills in the Banking and Mortgage Loan business were unmatched. She was Vice-President and Mortgage Loan Officer for the First Abilene Federal Credit Union. She taught her co-workers to always see the glass half full instead of half empty. She mentored so many of the credit union employees. She had charisma that was contagious. She was active in the Professional Women in Building; Abilene Board of Realtors, Big Country Home Builders Association, Women's Council of Realtors. She received the Black Diamond Award of Excellence based upon her excelling performance and is only given to those who show extra skill, innovation and perseverance exemplified in their performance as a Credit Union partner. She received the award at the CU Members Mortgage awards banquet in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
