Our beloved Mother, Shirley Elsie Witkowski, finished her race on January 17, 2013 after courageously battling Alzheimer’s. She was a dedicated Mother to all six of us children. She was a loving source of encouragement and support to us all throughout our lives. She epitomized unconditional love and acceptance to all who came across her path; always lovingly encouraged and supported us throughout our lives.
Born on January 27, 1925 in New Orleans, Louisiana she married Charles C. Witkowski of Greenwich, Connecticut on May 26, 1944. Our Mom thrived on traveling the world while Dad was in the Navy. Her favorite station location was in Yokohama, Japan. Mom had a strong constitution and carried out her life with the love of our Lord.
She is survived by her children Charles and Faye Witkowski and grandchildren: Nicole and Brooke of Louisiana, John and Beth Witkowski and grandchildren: Jonathan, Josh, Charlie and Lydia of Alpharetta Georgia, Paul Witkowski of Alpharetta, Georgia. Rob and Kay Witkowski of Bernalillo, New Mexico, Jerry and Sharon Sullivan and grandchildren: Steven, Sarah, and Danny of Vienna, Virginia, Jeff and Toni Galbreath and grandchildren: Andrea, Austin and Dallas of Abilene, Texas.
Special thanks and gratitude to our Father in heaven who carried us through her illness and allowed us to bend, but provided the strength, mercy and grace not to break. To the body of God that have supported and cared for her and us during her illness especially our family, friends, Andrea Galbreath, Joycelyn Collins, Beltway Church, Marie Moore, Dr. Hazelip, the staff at Windcrest, and Hospice, we appreciate you all more than words can say. To my husband, Jeff, for always opening our home to Mom as a loving son; you went above and beyond for her and I could not have cared for Mom without you!
