Our loving Mother and Grandmother, Shirley Juanice Bowlin went to meet her heavenly father on February 6, 2010, at 8:05 p.m. She passed away in an Abilene nursing facility after a valiant fight with a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be today, February 8th at 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamil Family Funeral Home with the family in attendance. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 9th at Hamil Family Funeral Home, burial will follow at the Loraine Cemetery. Arrangements are by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Shirley was born on her family's farm in Loraine, Texas on November 14th, 1932 to the late Cline and Eula Taylor. She attended High School in Loraine, Texas and later attended and received a degree from Hardin Simmons University. She loved teaching and taught at the Abilene State School for 16 years and Cooper High School for 14 years. She was a member of the Crescent Heights Baptist Church in Abilene, TX where she taught Sunday School and functioned on many committees.
Shirley was always a very gracious, loving and giving person. She was a blessing to know and be around. She enjoyed many hobbies and activities with her family, grandchildren and her church family. She volunteered at the Paramount Theater and enjoyed many of the programs presented there.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; Cline and Eula Taylor and one brother Albert Norris Taylor.
Shirley is survived by two sons; Dale Bowlin and wife Ester of Lubbock Texas; David Bowlin and wife Connie of Abilene Texas; two grandsons and one granddaughter; Christopher Bowlin, Russell Bowlin and wife Taralee; Carrie Long and husband Jacob; four great grand children; Dylan Bowlin, Landry Bowlin, Audrey Bowlin and Brady Long; and one sister-in-law Juanice Taylor.

The family of Shirley Bowlin would like to extend special thanks for the wonderful care our mother received from Dr. Hirsch, Pat, the people at Hendrick Medical Center, Mesa Springs and Hendrick Hospice Care. The love and special care each of you gave, helped her, and her loved ones to bear her illness and loss. We can't fully express our gratitude to the many people who have prayed for her and our family during these past months; those prayers have been such a comfort and uplifted us greatly. Also, very special thanks to all at Royal Estates who gave her a wonderful last year of fun, friendship and activity.
