Shelba Dolores Jones Hollingshead Shelba Dolores Jones Hollingshead, 95, of Abilene, Texas died Sunday January 19, 2014. Mrs. Hollingshead was the daughter of J Brice Jones and Lillie Mae Williams Jones. In 1937 she married her childhood sweet heart Fayne Hollingshead who preceded her in death on December 8, 1985. She is survived by her son Thomas Neal Hollingshead and his longtime partner Thomas Cassidy of Boca Raton, Florida and her devoted friend Emily Meador of Abilene, Texas. Mrs. Hollingshead was Vice President and a Loan Officer at the Interfirst Bank (now Bank of America) when she took early retirement to go to school and obtain her college degree. She received the first degree that McMurry College (now McMurry University) ever granted in Banking and Finance and she was age 63. She was a member of Abilene Woman’s Club, Los Aficicados, a charter member of 2M Investment Club and Fort Phantom Bridge Club. She was a member of Heavenly Rest Episcopal Church, a former member of the Altar Guild; a member of the Prayer Group that met on Wednesdays from 11:00 to 12:00 with Father Mayer and a charter member of the Heavenly Bells Hand Bell Choir. Services were conducted in the Elmwood Memorial Park Private Estates Section on Saturday, January 25, 2014 with the Rector of the Church of the Heavenly Rest, N. Luke Back officiating under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, 602 Meandor Street, Abilene, Texas 79602 or to any charity of your choice.
