Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 in the chapel at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. Sharon will be buried along her loving spouse, Don Roe, in the Iberis Cemetery.
Sharon was born "True Tyler Rose" on October 1, 1933 to Charles and Marvelle Aaron. She had one sibling, Judy Aaron Wilkes.
Sharon married Don Roe on June 1, 1951 in Childress, Texas. Don and Sharon moved around South and West Texas with a drilling company until they settled in Abilene, TX in 1956 to rear their two sons and one daughter. She retired from the Taylor County Clerk's office after 15 years.
Sharon was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church. She accepted Christ and followed him in Baptism at age 14.
We will especially miss the "Thanksgiving meal" this year without our Mimi's chocolate pies, pink stuff and her cornbread dressing. Mimi was our "go to" for all life's journeys. She was the one we leaned on when life was not so kind. She was bright, sassy, quick-witted and always welcoming to others in her home she shared with Pee Paw. She and her spouse, Don were always holding hands in the nursing care center. They were one until the final hour she passed away on his birthday less than a year since he passed.
She was preceded in death by her father, mother, sibling, grandson, Victor Roe, and spouse, Don Roe.
She is survived by son, Charles Roe and his wife Bonnie of Tuscola, son, Mark Roe and his wife Roxanne of Abilene, and daughter, Stephanie Roe Kethley and spouse Dr. Joe Kethley also of Abilene. They had 8 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild due in January 2017.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Boyd, Aaron Roe, Casey Lobb, Bill Mesey, Franklin O'Dell, and David Clark. Gene Davis with serve as an honorary pallbearer.
A special thank you to the Medical Staff at Hendrick Medical Center ER and 5th floor Nursing Staff. They are highly skilled and were very kind to our loved one and to our family. Their kindness will not be forgotten.
Thank you to her physicians: Dr. Tim Martin and staff, Dr. Cavuoti, Dr. Joe Dixon and Dr. Fullerton.
A special thank you to The Hamil Family Funeral Home. You have made the moments of preparing for our loved one's Celebration of Life less painful and we are grateful for all that you do.
