Selma Winter Tyree Selma Tyree, 81, passed away Monday, November 28, 2005 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, Texas. Mrs. Tyree was born on September 23, 1924 in Trent, Texas to Roy and Bertie Mae Winter. She grew up in Truby and graduated from Anson High School. She moved to Abilene in 1942. Selma retired from ASCS Department of Agriculture after 28 years of service. She loved playing bridge and keeping up with her Truby reunion friends. Selma was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family first. Selma was preceded in death by her parents and a twin sister, Thelma Cooper. She is survived by one son, Bobby Tyree of Dallas, two daughters, Jan Strickland and her husband Verlon of Abilene, Patty Reed Knight and her husband Greg of Abilene; one brother, Roy E. Winter, Jr. of Harlingen; two sisters Geraldine Jackson and Sybil McLean, both of Abilene; four grandchildren, Sheri Bearden, Kristi Brock, Austin and Blake Knight; one great-grandchild, Kadra Bearden, and many nieces and nephews.
