Scotty Bob Slaughter, 81, of Hawley, Texas, formerly of Amarillo, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at an Abilene, Texas medical center.
Born in Callahan County, Texas on August 25, 1929, he was the son of Marvel L. (Ferguson) and Claude A. Slaughter. He was a 1945 graduate of Abilene High School and served from 1951 to 1955 in the U. S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
From 1950 to 1988, Mr. Slaughter was a resident of Amarillo, Texas, where he retired from Cummins Supply Company as vice president and general manager after a 38-year career. He then moved to Godley, Texas and worked for Reynolds Supply Co. for three years as a sales representative before moving to Hawley, Texas.
Mr. Slaughter was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Amarillo and Palo Duro Masonic Lodge #1239.
He married Emogene Davison on April 23, 1961 in Clovis, New Mexico. Mr. Slaughter was preceded in death by his wife, Emogene, in 1974; parents; brother, Claude A. Slaughter, Jr.; and sister, Elsie Lillian Owens.
Mr. Slaughter is survived by his daughter, Dana Corinne Davidson and husband James W. Davidson of New Braunfels, Texas; grandson, Scotty Chad Crawford of San Marcos; great-granddaughter, Chloe Corinne Crawford; and sister, Mary Jane Busby of Abilene.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 9, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas with Masonic rites.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
