Scott Laric Steenblock, 31, died June 1, 2014 at an Abilene medical center.
Born in Abilene, Texas, on August 8, 1982, Scott was the son of Pamela Sue (Wentrcek) and Gary T. Steenblock. He attended Abilene High School for three years and graduated from Jim Ned High School before attending both Hardin-Simmons University and Cisco. He was All City Band, having played the tuba in middle school and high school. He played football at both Abilene High and Jim Ned, as well as HSU.
Scott worked in oil field service. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and also attended The Mission. He loved riding his Harley. He was a very outgoing person. He loved people and people loved him. He touched many lives and crammed a lot of living into his short life.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Edward C. Wentrcek.
Scott is survived by parents, Gary and Pam Steenblock of Abilene; brother, Cris Eric Steenblock of Abilene; grandmother, Virginia Wentrcek of Spring Branch, TX; grandparents, Rene and Ted Steenblock of Schulenburg, TX; uncles and aunts - uncle Ed Wentrcek and wife, aunt Nancy W. Russell and husband, uncle Alan Wentrcek and wife, aunt Kathy Pierson, and aunt Trudy Doerfler and husband; many cousins and lots of wonderful friends, as well as his beloved dog, Bevo.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 4, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastors Diane Eggemeyer and Chad Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be David Rodgers, Evan Long, Rick Clabaugh, Wade Levrets, David Snow and Tom Turman.
Scott registered online in December of 2010 for organ donation. Part of Scott will live on to save lives and help diabetics.
