Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, December 16th, 2017 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home with Terry Hirtzel, Shane Yarbrough and Ronnie Newton officiating. Interment will follow in the Loraine Cemetery in Loraine, Texas. Savannah was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Savannah was born in Loraine, Texas to Homer and Lona Caswell on March 17, 1921. Her childhood years were spent in the Loraine area where she labored her early years on the family farm. She married Foy Clifford Yarbrough on September 14th, 1940 in Loraine, TX. They spent 58 wonderful years together. She was able to live her lifelong dream of being a Mother and stay-at-home housewife. No doubt that God was first in her life followed by her family and friends. She was never too concerned for herself but always focused on those whom she loved. Her passion was working and spending time in her garden and most everyone she knew benefited from her bountiful harvest. Savannah sowed many seeds, both in her garden and more importantly to all who were ever touched by her genuine love and kindness. Savannah was truly a Bright Light in a dim world. No doubt that this world is a little brighter place because of the life of Savannah Elizabeth Yarbrough and a wonderful blessing to us all.
II Timothy 4:7-8 best summarizes Savannah and her final legacy.
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me on that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”
Savannah was preceded in death by her husband Foy Yarbrough (1998), a daughter Joyce Mae Yarbrough (1953), a son Alton Dale Yarbrough (1995), five sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by sons Harold Yarbrough and wife Ruby of Buffalo Gap, David Yarbrough of Abilene, and Dwayne Yarbrough and wife Darla of Buffalo Gap, and also daughter-in-law Linda Yarbrough Young and husband Wallace Young of Abilene. She is survived by her brother Leonard Caswell of Odessa Texas, 12 grandchildren 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
