Samuel Fredric Gregory, 77, died Sunday November 9, 2008 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday November 13, 2008 at the Hamil Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Pruitt officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. The family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at the Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Samuel was born December 14, 1930 in Pulaski, Virginia to James Crockett Gregory and Florence Johnson Gregory. He married Doris Nolte on November 3, 1956 in San Marcus Texas.
Samuel served in the United States Air Force for thirty years before retiring. He served in Korea and in Vietnam. He was very involved with the VFW where he was the State Chaplain and Past Post Commander at Post 6873. He did volunteer work at Dyess Air Force Base and very involved with Active and Retired Chiefs Group. Samuel was a member of Morningstar Community Church.
Samuel was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Survivors include his wife Doris Gregory, of Abilene; three sons, Randy Lindsey and his wife Connie, of Pataskala, Ohio, Stanley Lindsey and his wife Sandy, of New Braunfels, Texas, and Mark Gregory and his wife Ruth, of Abilene; one brother Duke Gregory and his wife Sheri, of Tennessee; three sisters, Margaret Sullivan and her husband Hoite, of Pulaski, Virginia, Doris Ackers and her husband Royce, of Charleston, S. Carolina, and Janie Polutta and her husband Larry, of Charleston, S. Carolina, and eight Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
Active Pallbearers will be CMSgt. (Ret) Lynn Woolf, CMSgt. (Ret) Bob Mehaffy, CMSgt. (Ret) Bobby Clark, CMSgt. (Ret) Paul Washinsky, CMSgt. (Ret) J.J. Fourier and CMSgt. Jeffery Barns.
