Samuel (Sam) L. Cochran, 64, of Abilene, went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 28, 2014. Viewing will be 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday, March 3, 2014 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, March 4 at the Buffalo Gap Church of Christ, in Buffalo Gap, Texas with Peter MacInnes officiating. Burial will follow at the Albany Cemetery.
Sam was born in Odessa, Texas to Beryl and Jackie Cochran. He married Rhonda Coulter-Cochran on February 25, 1972 in Garland, Texas. He graduated from Cooper High School and attended Hardin Simmons University. At the time of his death, he was a self-employed insurance salesman. Before going into the insurance business, he worked as manager of several restaurants. He served in the Texas Army National Guard for over eighteen years.
Sam was a member of the Buffalo Gap Church of Christ and belonged to a men’s weekly Wednesday morning Bible study group.
He was a selfless, giving man who enjoyed friends and loved his family. He never met a stranger.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents, several aunts and uncles.
Sam is survived by his wife, Rhonda Cochran; two daughters, Amy McClean and husband Dwight, and Robin Ochoa, all of Abilene; his sister, Carmen Smith and husband Jack of Rowena; brothers: Phillip and wife Joyce of Abilene, Danny and wife Jayne of Georgia, and Donny and wife Susan of Indiana; seven grandchildren: Brittany, Hillary, Zachary, Lily, Garrett, Raul III “Mr.” and Faith; one great-grandson, Breyden.
