Samantha Brittney Davis Samantha Davis, 24, formerly of Abilene, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009, in Elmore, Alabama. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, August 10, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. Dennis McKinley will officiate. Burial will follow in Oplin Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the Oplin Community Center following the burial. Samantha was born in Kerrville, Texas on February 17, 1985. She attended Alkek Elementary and Middle School. During her freshman and sophomore years she attended Bandera High School. In 2003, Samantha graduated from Wylie High School. She was a cheerleader for the Bandera Bulldogs during her 7th and 8th grade years. She played Volleyball, Basketball and Softball for over 18 years. Her Senior League Softball Team, with her on the Pitcher's Mound, were State Quarter Final Champions. Samantha was All District Softball for three years and attended Cisco Junior College with a Softball Scholarship. She was also a cheerleader at Cisco Junior College her freshman year. Samantha was also a member of the Bandera FFA for seven years where she dominated the lamb show and lamb showmanship at the Bandera County Livestock show for over 5 years. She also had many high placing lambs at the San Antonio and Houston Livestock Shows. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Merle and Pauline Davis, an aunt, Leann Davis, and an uncle, Larry L. Rennie. Samantha is survived by her father, Jim Davis, of Clyde; her mother, Lezlie Yurrita and her husband Enrique, of Bandera; her maternal grandmother, Bobbie McGinn and her husband Bob, of San Antonio; her maternal grandfather, Jimmy Don McNeil, of Presidio; two brothers, Bryce Davis and his wife Kati, of Eula and Sterling Yurrita, of Bandera; and two sisters, Sheridan Davis, of Cisco and Shyanne Yurrita, also of Bandera. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Jimbob and Leslie, of Midland; Vance and Christi McNeil, of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; Nancy Rennie, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and Lee Davis, also of Ponca City, Oklahoma; as well as numerous cousins. Pallbearers will be: Travis Kiehne, Jesse Longoria, Jason Cooper, J.D. Yates, Speedy Hutchinson, Donny Connell, Paul Patton, J. Paul Williams, Clint Singleton, Jody Reynolds, Bubba Wilson and Rocky Garnett. Memorials may be made in honor of Samantha Davis to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, P.O.
