Ruthanne Johnston

Ruthanne Davis Johnston, 84, of Abilene, passed away Monday, August 7, 2023 in Abilene. She was born to Wallace and Anastaschia Kaye on June 20, 1939, in Boston, MA.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, August 10, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:00 am on Friday, August 11, with a committal service at 1:00 pm at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.

Ruthanne moved to Abilene in 1973 with her first husband, SMSgt Irving Perry Davis. She married Clifford Johnston on October 14, 2017. She worked as a Registered Nurse for West Texas Medical Center. Ruthanne volunteered for 12 years after her retirement from nursing, continuing to support her community through the Mental Health Association Crisis Line.

She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her first husband Irving Perry Davis, and her son Christopher Alan Davis.

She is survived by her husband Clifford Johnston of Abilene, son Bruce Perry Davis and his wife Barbara of Palmer, TX, stepson Bill Johnston and his wife Candis of El Paso, stepdaughter Kasey Hawley and her husband Kenneth, eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
