Russell Tom "Tommy" Wheless left this earth April 13, 2018 to go live with his Heavenly Father.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2018, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Rake officiating. Burial will follow in the McBee Cemetery.
Tommy was the fifth child of six children born to the marriage of Peggy Joyce Lewis Wheless and Raymond Lee Wheless. Tommy was born April 1, 1960 in Odessa, Texas. He attended school in Abilene from grade school to graduating from Abilene Cooper High School in 1978. Tommy earned an Associates Electronics Degree from Cisco Junior College in Abilene. Tommy worked in law enforcement in Jones and Taylor Counties before becoming disabled some twenty years ago.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, an infant sister, Pamela Fay Wheless, his mother, Peggy Wheless Dardy and a brother-in-law, KK Kidwell.
Tommy is survived by his father, Raymond Lee Wheless and wife Mary of Abilene; three brothers, Randy Wheless of Abilene, The Honorable Ray Wheless and wife The Honorable Cyndi Wheless of Lucas, Texas, and Ronald Wheless of Waxahachie, Texas; two sisters, Joyce Wheless Kidwell Nutt and husband Clark of Abilene and Raylyn Wheless Van Meter and husband Shane of Abilene; one step-sister, Linda Rhodes and husband Jeff of Abilene; his ex-wife, Debbie Nuckolls and stepson Michael Lane of Abilene; seven nephews, Lee Kidwell and wife Traci, Tom Kidwell, Scott Wheless and wife Kaleigh, Ryan Wheless, Chandler Wheless, Dylan Wheless and Cody Nutt, and wife Hali all of Abilene; one niece, Peggy Kidwell Jones and husband Glenn of Sachse, Texas; several great nephews, one great niece and two great-great nephews. Tommy had a lot of friends. His personality was friendly and full of life. He will be missed very much. See you later, Sharp Brother.
