Russell Curtis Sanders

Russell Curtis Sanders, 57, of Abilene, Texas, passed away on January 19, 2018 in Abilene, Texas.

Visitation will be 6:00PM to 8:00PM Friday, January 26, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00PM Saturday, January 27, at the Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal with the Reverend Luke Back of Church of the Heavenly Rest officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Columbarium at the Church of the Heavenly Rest.

Russell was born in San Antonio, Texas to Wade and Ann Sanders on October 4, 1960. He went to school in Abilene. He graduated from Abilene High School and Texas A & M University. Shortly after graduation, he moved to New York City where he resided for 25 years. He worked as a creative marketer and editor for the Avon Corporation. At the time of his death, he was employed by Choice Medical Supply in Abilene, Texas. He was involved in various activities with the Church of the Heavenly Rest.

Russell is survived by a brother, Dana Sanders and wife Delores, a sister, Suzanne Southerland, nieces, Tiffany Sanders, Monica Mendoza, and Olivia Southerland, and a nephew, Wyatt Southerland.

Memorials may be given to the Church of the Heavenly Rest or Big Country Hospice. The family of Russell Sanders wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Linda Pinkston, Big Country Hospice, and Juanita Gonzalez of Lone Star Home Health and her wonderful ladies, Beci, Diana, and Charlene.
