Russ Dunham, 77, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2006 in Abilene, Texas. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, December 22 in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Burtis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
December 25, 1928, Russ was born to Harold Hiram Dunham and Cornelia (LaBuer) Dunham in South Hackensack, New Jersey. He grew up in New Jersey and graduated from Drake's Business College with a degree in Engineering. Russ served in the National Guard in New Jersey. In 1954, he married Dolores Parodi in Hillsdale, New Jersey. He was employed as a Mechanical Engineer by Choronos Richardson Scale Company in Clifton, N.J. In October of 1997, Russ and his wife Dee moved to Abilene from Wayne, N.J.
Russ served as a Bronze Judge of the American Roller Skating Organization, of which he was a member. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in the New Jersey Wing and the New York Wing. Russ was also a member of the Commemorative Air Force in Abilene, in which the position he held was an adjutant. He also coached PAL "Police Athletic League" Football in Wayne, New Jersey and was an exempt Fireman from South Hackensack Township in New Jersey. Russ was an Orthodox Presbyterian.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Russ is survived by his wife, Dolores "Dee" Dunham of Abilene, TX; one son, Todd Allan Dunham of Atlantic Highlands, NJ; one daughter, Dawn Lesley Potosnak and her husband Joe of Abilene; cousins, Karen and Cliff Schneider of Andover, NJ, and Dorothy M. LaBuer of Lakewood, NJ; and three grandchildren, Leeza Anne Potosnak and Michael Joseph Potosnak, both of Abilene, and Lauren Ashley Dunham of Atlantic Highlands, NJ.
