Russell Wayne Altman

Russell W. "Russ" Altman, 57, died on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in Abilene, Texas. He was born on June 6, 1955, at Bolling AFB in Washington, D.C. Since his father was career military, he lived in several places until his dad retired in 1969 and moved to Abilene. Russ graduated from Abilene Christian High School, served four years in the USAF, and graduated from Abilene Christian University with a BS degree in Accounting. For the past twelve years he had been employed by Texas Tech University's Small Business Development Center. At his death he was Assistant Director. He is survived by his parents Don and Marie Altman, his brother Tom Altman, sister Donna Altman, sons Shawn and Ryder Altman, and daughter Carisa Day and her husband Nathan, as well as numerous cousins. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 2, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. A memorial service will be held in The Hamil Family Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, with Phil Ware and Stephen Corbett officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
