Ruby Fine Henson, 95, of Shep, Texas, died Monday, May 11, 2009, at her residence.
Born in Kerrville, Texas, on December 24, 1913, Ruby was the daughter of the late Ida (Walker) and Albert Fine. She married Enoch Henson on July 4, 1935 in Winters, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1976. In 1992, she was preceded in death by her second husband, G. K. Corley, whom she married in 1979. Ruby was a homemaker.
Ruby, affectionately known as "Muddy" by her family and friends, was a very loving woman who loved her family and friends. She had been a room mother, and a member of the P.T.A., and the Quilt Club. A member of Wingate Baptist Church and a Sunday School class at the church, she also had a telephone ministry. Anyone in need of prayer or encouragement could just call her. Ruby's mind was as sharp as a tack up until the day she died.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Bob Henson, in 2005; two brothers, B. J. Fine and Jimmy Lee Fine; and two sisters, Ada Fine Byrd and Pearl Fine Cobb.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Ashton, and daughter-in-law, Marjorie Henson, both of Shep; sister, Mary Carter of San Angelo; seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 13th, at Wingate Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Shep Cemetery under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
