Roy Richardson

Roy Richardson, 67, passed from this life to be with his Savior and Lord on Sunday, November 27, 2011 at Abilene Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 525 Beech. Rev. John Wade will officiate. Memorial Tribute will be given by his son Richard Richardson. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November, 29 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Pallbearers are: Richard Richardson, Kirkland Richardson, Dewayne Key, Bill Paul, Aric John Richardson, and Darrell Breland. Honorary pallbearers are: John Prince, Harvey Nichols, Eddie Rains, Jerry Rains, Sonny Bouldin, and Scott Piland. Roy was born on January 20, 1944 In Fort Worth, Texas. Roy was raised by foster parents Ollie and Gladys Rains in Cisco, Texas. In 1963 he joined the U.S. Navy and served his country. He met his lifelong companion Gloria Hagar in 1964 and they were married on August 7, 1964. Roy worked in the Automobile business for many years. He retired in 2008 and after his retirement he worked with his son-in-law in his construction business. Above all he loved and cherished his family and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his granddaughter Kelly Drury Burkhart, his foster parents Ollie and Gladys Rains and foster sister Jonell Kirkland and her husband Roy Kirkland, and his biological mother Betty Ann Potts. Roy is survived by wife Gloria, two daughters Lori Key and husband Dewayne of Abilene, Krisha Paul and husband Bill of Port Aransas, two sons Richard Richardson and wife Shona of Abilene, Kirkland Richardson and wife Sunny of Lewisville; grandchildren Kristin and Kaitlyn Drury, Kasondra and Lacey Bouldin, Alexandra and Aric John Richardson, and Michael Richardson; great granddaughter Kelly Cadence. Memorials may be made in Roy's honor to the Leukemia Foundation or the donor's favorite charity.
