Rosemary Young

1929 — March 2, 2012

Rosemary Nicholson Young passed away on March 2, 2012 at her home in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at First Central Presbyterian Church. Rev. Janice Six and Chaplain Aaron Coleman will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. A reception will be held at the church following the committal service at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Rosemary was born in Palestine, Texas to Louise Wilson and Walter W. Nicholson on April 21st, 1929. She graduated from La Vega High School in Waco, Texas. On May 27th, 1950 she married Bennie Lee Young Jr. in her home town. Rosemary and Bennie moved to Abilene from Lufkin, Texas in 1968. She was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Young was an extremely talented floral artist. She especially loved doing weddings and had her own successful business, Custom Designs by Rosemary, for many years. Her other love was First Central Presbyterian Church where she served in many capacities over the last 40 years. The love and friendship of her church family sustained her through many joyful and difficult times. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bennie Lee Young Jr. and her brother Walter W. "Nicky" Nicholson. She is survived by her son, Bennie Lee Young III and wife Holly of Hawley; her daughter, Laurie Young Stevens and husband David of Manor; her beloved sister, Elizabeth Krasno and husband Irvin of Arlington and five grandchildren; MiKaya Young, Kinsey Young, Andrew Stevens, Alex Stevens and Alyssa Stevens. Her family would like to thank the amazing staff of IntegraCare Hospice and all of her friends. We could not have wished for better help and support through her long illness. Memorials may be made in honor of Rosemary to IntegraCare Hospice, formerly known as Sears Methodist Hospice at One Village Dr., Suite 300, Abilene, Texas 79605 or to the Presbyterian Medical Mission at 302 Medical Dr., Abilene, Texas 79601.
