Rosemary Harris, 87, of Abilene, passed away, Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. The body will be cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene, Texas.
Rosemary was born April 22, 1927 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Chester Lee Phillips, Sr. and Katie Mae (Adams). She grew up in Texarkana, Texas and obtained her BS in Education from North Texas State Teachers College in Denton. She retired from teaching in elementary schools in Texas and Louisiana in 1980.
Rosemary was known for her beautiful voice. She sang in several summer musicals at Fair Park in Dallas. She was well remembered for many solos while a member of the choir at First Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Harris and one brother, Chester Lee Phillips, Jr.
Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Kathy Langham and her husband Gary of Abilene; one grandson, Brandon Langham and one great-grandchild, Makenzie Langham.
