Rosa Robertson, 88, died Thursday, November 5, 2009, in Abilene, Texas. Born in Medina, Texas on March 19, 1921, Rosa was the daughter of Serena (Bessent) and Jessie Slaughter. She attended school in Medina and Mullin, Texas, and received her LVN from the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Sweetwater. She worked as a nurse. In 1954, she moved from Denver City to Abilene, where she was a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church, the W.M.U at the church, and Order of the Eastern Star. Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman D. Robertson in 1993, and her parents. Survivors include her sons, Sherman D. Robertson, Jr. and wife, Jean, of Houston, Clifton Robertson of Abilene, and Jessie L. Robertson and wife, Nancy, of Austin, Arkansas; one sister, Lillie McGary and husband, R.V., of Goldthwaite, Texas; six grandchildren, Cliff A, Randy, Cindy, Melanie, Ginger and Mike; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 9, in Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery in Goldthwaite, Texas, directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Goldthwaite or Crescent Heights Baptist Church in Abilene.
