Ronald Alvin Ramsaier, 81, of Abilene, Texas, passed away surrounded by loved ones in his Abilene home on June 16, 2024.
The visitation will be on Monday, June 24, at 12:00 pm in the Narthex at Zion Lutheran Church located on 2801 Antilley Road in Abilene. The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Clyde Kieschnick of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. The burial will follow at Ross Cemetery in Baird, Texas. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral home located at 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
Ron was born in Albany, Texas to Ben Ramsaier and Esther Bernstein on November 7, 1942. He attended Concordia High School in Pflugerville, Texas, where he held several state records in Track and Field and graduated from Abilene High School. He married Sharon Ann Ramsaier (nee Davis) of Klamath Falls, Oregon on August 10, 1963, in Abilene, Texas. After a brief tour in the Army National Guard stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, Ron entered the grocery business. Over the next 50 years, Ron worked his way up to District Manager at Furr’s Supermarkets and as store manager at Lawrence Brothers, where he returned to Abilene and retired in 2015. Ron was a lifelong, devoted member of the Lutheran Church.
Ron was preceded in death by both his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Ramsaier of Abilene, Texas; his daughters Hilary Pace and her husband Joe of Rocklin, California and Heather Crowder and her husband Don of Potosi, Texas; his sisters Margaret Latimer of Lexington, Texas and Wanda Carlson and her husband Rod of Monument, Colorado; his brother Cecil Ramsaier and his wife Tina of Breckenridge, Texas; his grandchildren Ronald “Alex” Ramsaier and his wife Cheyenne, Mary Ann Crowder, and Preston Pace, along with his great-grandchild Blakelee.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest thanks and heartfelt appreciation to Enhabit Hospice, Home Instead and Home Helpers for their efforts and kindness in helping care for Ron.
