Roland T. Marcee, of Abilene, died Sunday, November 23, 2008 at River Hills Health & Rehab Center in Kerrville, Texas at the age of 75. Funeral services, with Tom Wilkins, of Amarillo and Mike Herrington, of Kerrville, officiating, will be at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Those that would like to pay their respects may do so Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday prior to service time at the funeral home. There is no set visitation. Roland's wishes were to be cremated.
January 10, 1933, Roland was born in Fort Worth, Texas to the late William Wadsworth Marcee and Audrey Faye (Carter) Marcee. He graduated from Carter Riverside High School in Fort Worth in 1951 and then attended Texas Christian University. Roland also served in the United States Navy. He was an independent cattle buyer. In 1976, he moved to Abilene from Coleman and in the fall of 2007 Roland moved to the Kerrville area. He found great enjoyment in fishing and playing golf and he dearly loved his family. Roland was a member of the First Baptist Church in Center Point, Texas.
His parent's preceded him in death. Roland is survived by four sons, Steve Marcee and his wife Janey of Center Point, Texas, Bill Marcee of Potosi, Tim Marcee and his wife Mandy, of LaJunta, Colorado, and John Marcee and his wife Jennifer, of Clyde; one daughter, Debbi Sue Conrad and her husband Art, of Longview, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren as well as a large extended family.
Memorials may be made in honor of Roland Marcee to the Retired Cattle Buyers Foundation.
