Roger Lee Hanna, 60, of Austin, Texas, passed away in Abilene, Texas on July 30, 2021.
Roger was born in Abilene on April 29, 1961 to Bob and Ouita Hanna. He was raised in Abilene and graduated from Cooper High School in 1979. After a couple of tries, he decided that college was not his calling and enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served on active duty and was stationed in Europe. Upon separation from the service, he became a tradesman and general contractor.
Those who knew him best saw him as a “jack of all trades,” who would not let anything stand between him and a good time. He was warm-hearted and hard-headed. He lived life to the fullest and always on his terms.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ouita Hanna, and is survived by his daughter, Olivia Hanna, his father, Bob Hanna (Donna), his brother, Jon Hanna (Melissa), his sister, Kelli Hanna Narans (Kevin), his sister, Brooke Hanna, 2 nieces, 3 nephews, and his favorite aunt, Erlene Sandusky of Suwanee, Georgia and her family.
There are far too many people to thank individually for their selfless gifts of time and assistance over the last 10 months, but Pam Bush deserves a special thanks for the gracious care she provided Roger during his treatment in Austin.
We would also like to thank Dr. Tony Melnyk and Pam at Texas Oncology and the kind, generous staff of both Hospice of the Big Country and Hendrick Hospice who were so helpful in the end.
In lieu of flowers or other memorials, we would ask that support be directed to Hospice of the Big Country, Hendrick Hospice, the American Cancer Society, or any other agency whose mission is to fight this terrible disease and ease the suffering of those affected by it.
There will be a Celebration of Roger’s Life on Saturday, August 21, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. for family and friends. It will be held at the Hanna Law Firm, 302 Chestnut, Abilene, Texas.
