Roddy Dale Lawson, 47, of Abilene, died Friday, October 9, 2009. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home, 210 South Ferguson St., Stamford, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, at the First Baptist Church in Stamford. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Stamford. Local arrangements are being made by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
Roddy was born in Stamford, Texas on October 17, 1961, the son of Lavada Ann (Kohout) and Robert Charles Lawson, and graduated from Stamford High School in 1980. He was a lifelong resident of the Stamford and Abilene area, and had been a longtime supporter of the Texas Cowboy Reunion in Stamford. Roddy was an excellent welder and a musician.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Lawson, and his grandparents, Louis and Velma Kohout and Etheridge and Effie Lawson.
Roddy is survived by his mother, Lavada Lawson of Abilene; son, Lynn Lawson of Abilene; and brothers, Chuck Lawson and wife, Deon, of Abilene, and Ricky Lawson of Stamford. Survivors also include nieces, Amee Camacho and husband, Pro, and Ashley Lawson; nephews, Cody Lawson and wife, Tristan, Wade Lawson, and Adam Thompson and wife, Hali; and numerous other great-nieces and great-nephews.
