Rod Copeland, of Abilene, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Visitation will be Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 24, 2016, at Southwest Park Baptist Church in Abilene with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Hamlin Memorial Cemetery.
Rod was born in Gainesville, Texas on March 21, 1948. He attended school in Gainesville and graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Accounting. He was a certified public accountant and worked for Conley and Company and Harken Oil and Gas in Abilene.
Rod owned and operated Roco Petroleum for over 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy. Rod enjoyed riding his motorcycle and bowling in the Baptist Men’s Bowling League. He was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church.
Rod was preceded in death by his parents, David Copeland and Doris G. Williams; and sister-in-law, Debbie Copeland.
Rod is survived by his wife Karen; sons, Eric Copeland and wife Kristie of Austin, and Chance Copeland also of Austin; stepsons, Jacey Leek and wife Brandy of Hamlin, Jared Leek of Austin and Mitch Leek of Odessa; grandchildren, Carter Copeland, Caroline Copeland, Brianna Leek, Skye Leek and Bransan Leek; brothers, Mel Copeland of Grapevine and Mark Copeland of Kingsville, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
