Bobbi Naler joined our Lord and Savior Monday, July 15, 2013 after a brief illness. She passed peacefully at her home in Shreveport, Louisiana with her daughter and granddaughter at her side.
She was born in Halstead, Kansas on January 26, 1924. On December 25, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas she married her childhood sweetheart, Lt. James D. Naler. By Jim’s side she was a strong, brave and gracious military wife. Upon retirement from Dyess Air Force Base they made their home in Abilene, Texas. Bobbi moved back to Shreveport, LA in 2011 to be close to her family.
Our Mother and “Grandmere” was a devoted and wonderful homemaker, beautiful seamstress always clothed in strength and dignity. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and painting. She spent her life making a beautiful home for her family. Her children arise and call her blessed. She saw to it her children were taught of the Lord and great is their peace and welfare. The most treasured possession our Mother has left us is a heart full of loving memories.
She was preceded in death by her husband Col. James D. Naler, whom she was enormously devoted to being the best wife to her dearly beloved husband. Her parents Adolph and Velma Kaiser, brother Bud Kaiser, and sisters Katheryn Kapple & Louis Smith.
She is survived by her two daughters Miss Nancy Ann Naler and Mrs. Jamie Naler Thomas and husband John W. Thomas Jr. all of Shreveport, LA. John was a true “son” to Bobbi and they enjoyed a very special friendship. She has three Granddaughters, Ms. Johnette Thomas of San Antonio, TX, Mrs. Julie Ann Hinton and husband Jay, and Mrs. Joy Reynolds and husband Ron all of Shreveport; four Great Grandchildren, Jordan Hinton, Tobin Reynolds, Joseph Thomas Hinton, and Carter Reynolds; two nieces and three nephews.
A Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Roberta J. Naler will be held at graveside in Elmwood Memorial Park on Friday, July 19, 2013 at 4:00 pm. Services will be officiated by the Abilene State School Chaplain, Dr. Bill Spencer, and directed by The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road in Abilene.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mack Turley and Harvey Gardner.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Jim & Bobbi Naler Endowment Fund @ the Community Foundation of Abilene, Word of Life Center in Shreveport, LA, or a favorite charity of choice.
John 11:25-26 Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”
