Robert Davis Webb

Robert Webb, 85, died Saturday, January 13, 2007. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in the Potosi Cemetery. Robert was born in Potosi, Texas on July 15, 1921, to William Robert Webb and Blanche (Davis) Webb. He served in the United States Army as a Private 1st Class from 1942 to 1945. While serving his country he received an American Theater Medal, a European African Middle Eastern Theater Medal, with one Bronze Service Star, a Good Conduct Medal and a purple heart with three overseas service bars. June 29, 1946, Robert married Mattie "Juanita" Chaney in Abilene. She preceded him in death February 6, 1997. He was a member of the VFW and Potosi Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Robert is survived by his daughter, Janet Smith and her husband Derriel of Potosi, his sister, Gail Curtis of Abilene, four grandchildren, Derriel Smith, Jr. and his wife Teresa, Jeff Smith and his wife Julie, Tim Smith and his wife Traci, and Jennifer Smith and her son Justin; five great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Memorials may be made in honor of Robert Webb to the American Red Cross, Big Country Regional Chapter, 1610 North 2nd Street, Abilene, Texas 79601.
